My skin by your skin

In this lonely city of rush and heat

Only my skin by your skin

Feels complete.

A boundary is just a rule in space,

A fear is an image of the mind,

Love is the reality of life.

In this lonely city of clouds and haze

Only my skin by your skin

Forgets the chafe.

I hug you. There I see the monsters; I chase

them, floating around. Before I was blind:

I can live now that I am your wife.

In this lonely city of lust and rain

Only my skin by your skin

Forgets the pain.

You brought me emotions to embrace

As I wandered lost in my mind.

Demons feared the caress; not the knife.

In this lonely city of rush and heat

Only my skin by your skin

Feels complete.

I am a warrior; my mission is to unlace

love and passion, trust and confidence combined.

Every second you remind me the value of life.

In this lonely city of luxury and deprived

Only my skin by your skin

Feels alive.

The universe is our space

I am vulnerable and safe, confined.

By you, I will conquer my mental strife.

“She couldn’t get any farther away inside from her skin. She couldn’t get away.”
― Cynthia Voigt, When She Hollers
